Rescue Score

What those ghosts actually mean

The Rescue Score is a quick signal — not a judgment — to help buyers gauge how approachable a project might be to pick up and run with. It's calculated automatically from publicly available listing data.

How it's calculated

Completion %
40 pts
How far along the project is. A near-complete project is easier to revive than one with just a README.
Recency
25 pts
How recently it was listed. Newer listings tend to have fresher dependencies and less technical debt.
Tech stack depth
20 pts
More documented technologies means more context for the buyer to understand what they're getting.
Price
15 pts
A lower price lowers the barrier to rescue. Higher-priced projects need a buyer who really sees the vision.

The ghost meter

Very approachable — high completion, fresh, well-documented
Solid foundation — most of the hard work is done
Promising — needs some effort but the core is there
A project for the patient — expect to fill in some gaps
Long shot — but the right buyer might see exactly what others miss

The Rescue Score is a guide, not a guarantee. Every project has hidden value — sometimes the best finds are the ones others overlook. Read the listing, talk to the seller, and trust your own judgment.
